In order to alert residents about keeping their phones safe, the UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) shared a video warning on social media on Friday.
In a video re-enactment of true events, a woman can be seen leaving her home without her mobile. The maid is then seen tampering with her phone and taking the sim card from it. The maid uses her employer's sim card to transfer over Dh30,000 to herself.
The woman was alerted of the purchase through her second phone.
Your #smartphone is your wallet..keep it safeThe video ends with TRA reminding residents to keep their smartphones safe especially if they have linked any payment options to it.
