The UAE’s Ministry of Economy has closed all of its customer service centres as part of the federal government’s drive towards digitisation of services.

“The Ministry of Economy announces the closure of all customer happiness centres in line with the directives of the wise leadership in digitising government services and achieving efficiency,” said a statement posted on the authority's social media channel.
"The Ministry is at the forefront of the federal entities that contribute to achieving this vision by providing digital channels that enable the public to obtain services with ease and convenience," it added.
In January 2021, the UAE’s Ministerial Development Council (MDC) had discussed a plan to reduce 50 per cent of federal government service centres and convert them into digital platforms within two years.
The first phase includes a total of 282 service centres. Out of these, 59 centres will be closed during the first quarter of 2021. The remaining centres will be closed between 2021 and 2022.
Earlier this month, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) also announced the closure of its customer care centre at Dragon Mart 2 from March onwards to promote smart services.
Customers who wish to contact the Ministry of Economy for any enquiries can do so through its call centre (8001222) or email them on info@economy.ae.
