The UAE-based retailer, LuLu Group International, has urged the unsuspecting not to fall prey to a fake website, which has been running a bogus campaign.
A dodgy link is doing the rounds on social media platforms. The fake website lures people with a ‘LuLu Hypermarket 20th Anniversary Celebration’ offer along with a set of questionnaires.
If an individual answers questions such as whether he/she knows about LuLu Hypermarket, his/her age, views about the brand etc., a new page opens up with boxes.
There are three attempts to select the correct box to win the prize, a Huawei Mate 40 Pro.
However, to claim the prize, the individual needs to share the icon with 20 friends or five WhatsApp groups.
V. Nandakumar, the director for marketing and communications, LuLu Group International, dismissed the website and the promotional campaign as fake.
“It ‘s unfortunate that such fraudsters keep coming up with new tricks. We’ve informed relevant authorities about this issue. We urge our loyal customers to not fall for such fake websites. Also, we wish to request our customers never to share any personal details, bank account or card number on such websites or any other suspicious links,” Nandakumar said.
He added that only genuine offers would be posted on the company’s official social media platforms and handles.
