Three young men have been accused of gang raping a married woman, in her late 30s, after abducting her from one of the streets in Al Ain city.
Police arrested the Arab youths aged between 17 and 25 after investigations confirmed that they had taken turns to sexually assault the woman, the Al Ain Criminal Court of First Instance heard.
Official court documents stated that the trio abducted the Asian woman from one of the city's streets after midnight, forced her into their vehicle and took her to a desert area where they raped her one by one.
Prosecutors said the victim, who works at a shopping mall in Al Ain city, had just left her workplace. As she walked down the street to return home, she was intercepted by the men in a car.
The woman told the prosecutors that one of the men got out of the vehicle and forced her in. She said she screamed and tried to shout for help while begging the men to leave her alone, but in vain. The victim said she also offered to give the youths money so they could release her but the youths refused.
The trio reportedly took the victim to a desert area, where they raped her in turns.
After raping the woman, the men left her in the area where they had picked her from.
The woman went to her home and informed her husband about the assault on her by unknown men.
The couple filed a complaint at the police station. The woman couldn't remember the rapists' faces since it was dark when they pounced on her. She also didn't note down their vehicle number plate and had no idea about the location of the area where she had been taken to by the men after being abducted.
After reviewing footage of the CCTV cameras from where the woman was abducted, the police figured out the vehicle used by the defendants. Some details provided to them by the victim also came in handy.
Police launched a search for the vehicle and eventually, it was spotted in one of the places in Al Ain. The police arrested its driver and his accomplices after confirming that they were the ones who attacked the woman.
The men confessed to abducting and raping the woman during police interrogations.
Prosecutors charged the men with abducting the woman, unlawful detention and raping her.
They, however, denied the charges when they appeared in the court.
The trial was adjourned to a future date so the lawyer of the accused can file their defence.
