The new speed cameras, installed in the direction of Shamal Al Rams, will be added to the 15 radars recently fitted on the same road.
Brigadier Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of the central operations room, Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the speed limit on the new road has been set at 141kmhr.
"More speed cameras are to be installed on the arterial road to ensure road users' safety and clamp down reckless speeding."
Recently, the traffic and patrols department of the Ras Al Khaimah Police nabbed a reckless young motorist driving on Emirates Road at 264km/hr.
Speeding is blamed for some 85 per cent of road accidents leading to death on the roads of Ras Al Khaimah, he added.
"Speeding poses a grave risk not only to the life of the driver and passengers onboard, but to all road users."
Most speeding drivers lose control over the steering wheel, veer off the road, and flip over several times, he explained.
"Other than the big financial damages, speeding mostly ends in serious injuries and death."
The police spare no effort in improving public awareness against speeding, he underlined.
"Sophisticated gadgets are used to nab reckless speeding drivers, particularly those involved in stunts."
