The Sharjah Municipality has started the project that would build 4,400 homes for citizens in the emirate, implementing the decision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, authorities said on Sunday.
Sheikh Dr Sultan announced the housing grants during the first session of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) on Thursday.
Speaking to Khaleej times, Thabet Salem Al Tarifi, director-general of Sharjah Municipality, said the municipality is now working with its engineers and various departments to develop the plan and complete the project within a year and a half - a timeline that was also mentioned by the Ruler of Sharjah.
Sheikh Dr Sultan's kind gesture aims to boost family stability, strengthen the community spirit, and ensure a decent life for citizens in the emirate, Al Tarifi said.
Engineer Khalifa bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, assistant director-general of the engineering and building department of the municipality, said they will work hard and mobilise their team to help make the mega project happen.
