Two companies in Sharjah that provided parasailing services were suspended on Sunday following an incident in which six men were injured.

The decision to suspend both companies, which was issued by Sharjah's Department of Civil Aviation and Department of Economic Development, will remain valid until the end of the investigation, Sharjah News said on Sunday.

Six Asians were injured after the ropes connecting them to their parachutes snapped as heavy rains and high-speed winds hit Sharjah's Khor Fakkan on Saturday.

The men were parasailing on three parachutes off the beach when the ropes snapped.

According to the Sharjah News post, the both departments said that the safety residents was the top priority when it comes to such activities, stressing that such activities must be stopped during bad weather conditions.

A video taken by a motorist who was passing by showed two men dangling in air, struggling amid strong winds. The rope then snapped, sending them flying. Another video showed one of the men at the farm, with a part of the parachute hanging from a date palm. Both videos had gone viral on social media.
