 The Sharjah Education Council (SEC) has launched "they deserve happiness" initiative as their contribution to the year of giving.
Dr Saeed Mussabah Al Kabbi, member and chairman of SEC, said the report of the 2015 census in Sharjah shows 89 cases of illiterates who wished to complete their education.
People in need of education include orphans, widows, divorcee, separated, special needs, and elderly.
The SEC launched the initiative based on instruction of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who has allocated Dh200,000 to solve illiteracy issue for these sectors.
