Residents of Dubai continued expressing their support for the UAE's mission in Yemen by reaching out to blood donation centres for the second consecutive day on Sunday. The residents, had by afternoon, donated 200 units of blood to help treat the injured in the Saudi-led Arab coalition Operation Restore Hope in Yemen.
People flocked the Dubai Blood Donation Centre in Latifa Hospital and donated 100 units until 2pm on Sunday. Another 100 units were collected from a school through a mobile unit. The centre was open on Sunday for extended hours from 7am to 7pm and will remain so until Thursday.
On Saturday, 350 units of blood were donated by a huge crowd in support of the Emirati soldiers injured in Yemen on Friday.
Dr Laila Al Shaer, head of the centre that is run by Dubai Health Authority (DHA), told Khaleej Times on Saturday that blood donation is a noble and humanitarian gesture and people should register with the blood bank so that they are able to donate regularly.
