A man stood trial at the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court on charges of attempting to kill his workmate with a cleaver following a dispute.
As per the RAK Public Prosecution, the man was accused of premeditated attempted murder by stabbing the victim with a cleaver. He was also charged with using abusive language against the victim.
The suspect denied the charges, and told the prosecutors that he was not planning to kill the victim.
"I only meant to beat and scare him."
The defence lawyer requested the court to clear his client of the charges for lack of evidence.
"My client denied the charges before the police, prosecution, and court, affirming that he was only trying to intimidate him because of their disputes."
The lawyer requested the court to have mercy on the defendant, and change the charges from attempted murder to misdemeanour or assault with a cleaver.
The court ordered adjournment of the case to September 30.
