The Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested five drug dealers with 2,036 narcotic pills in their possession.
Col Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director of the anti-narcotics department, RAK Police, said they were alerted by undercover agents about a 25-year-old Emirati drug dealer.
"The suspect, identified only as H.A.K., was planning to illegally consume and traffic in narcotic Tramadol pills he had among young people in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah."
A search and investigation team had accordingly been formed to look into the issue, and arrest the druggie and his partners, if any, he added.
"Armed with the public prosecution permission, the accused, who was staying in his own house here in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, was put under close surveillance round the clock."
A 28-year-old Arab resident, identified as N.K.M., was detected when he approached the suspect's house in his private car. "He knocked at the door, collected a bowl of food, and left," he said. "He was tracked down, and later arrested with the drugs concealed in the bowl he had."
The anti-narcotic men stormed the house of the suspect, searched the five people in, but nothing was found on them, Col Zaabi explained. "However, two of them looked so tired and unbalanced."
The two Arab suspects, M.H.M., 22, and G.A.M., 19, proved to have consumed narcotic tramadol pills as per the forensic tests done later, he elaborated.
"When interrogated about the drugs, the Emirati druggie, H.A.K., guided the police to a plastic bag stuffed with 2,063 narcotic pills he was hiding in a bag in his room with the intent of trafficking."
Later, the Emirati suspect told the anti-narcotic police that a 35-year-old Arab resident had asked him to collect the contraband from an unidentified person in another emirate.
"The accused met that guy and collected the said drugs for consumption and trafficking in the country."
When asked about the person who collected the food from his house, the suspect said he was a 28-year-old Arab resident, identified simply as N.K.M, and the food bowl contained narcotic pills.
"The other druggie, N.K.M., was tracked down, and arrested while parking his car, but nothing was found on him," Col Zaabi stated. "However, a strip of nine pills of tramadol was found at the house of the suspect, who proved to have a criminal record."
The case file was referred to the bodies concerned for legal action as due. "Parents are urged to keep an eye on their children and protect them against narcotics, Col Zaabi underlined. "It is not only the responsibility of law enforcement bodied to curb drugs; it is rather of all members of the society."
