Sharjah Police have installed environment-friendly radars to detect violation of exploiting car parking space for people of determination.
The radar is currently in the trial phase and will be located at shopping malls, parks and other 'dynamic' areas in the city.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Alai Al Naqbi, director of traffic and patrolling department of Sharjah Police, said that the new device will initially warn and alert erring motorists through a warning beaming light when they park their cars in the area marked for people of determination. The light will keep flashing for a minute when the motorist tries to park his car in the unauthorised area and in case the motorist insists on parking he will be booked."
Lt Colonel Al Naqbi noted that the main objective of placing the radars is to respect the right of people of determination to park their cars in designated areas and ensure their parking areas are not misused.
Lt Colonel Al Naqbi said that the radar has a camera that will take pictures of the car parking in and leaving, which will calculate the duration of parking and ensure that the vehicle has the special permission to park in the designated areas.
