A bed-ridden delivery man from Kerala will soon be flying home for free treatment and rehabilitation, thanks to the generosity of KT readers.
Help has poured in from various quarters for the 49-year-old accident victim after Khaleej Times on January 17 wrote about the plight of Kunjali Monutty, who is paralysed from waist down.

Aster Healthcare, a private healthcare provider in the UAE, has offered to fund his treatment in Kerala, including a long-term rehabilitation plan.
The Indian Embassy has offered to provide free air tickets and many people have made financial contributions to support the family, Monutty's wife Sadeeqa told Khaleej Times.
"I hope we can fly home this week. Many people have called and transferred money to our bank account. Others have promised help in future. I am really overwhelmed by the generosity of the UAE residents."
Monutty, a father of three school-going children, met with a road accident on November 28 in Bahya in Abu Dhabi while at work. He underwent three surgeries but is still unable to walk.
Sadeeqa, who had flown down to the UAE early this month, had said the future of their family is at stake. "He is the sole breadwinner of the family. Now it is a struggle to pay rent and send children to school. We don't have anyone to count on except some compassionate souls who can help fund my husband's future treatment and repatriation."
But, with Aster Healthcare stepping in to help, the family is relieved. "Our founder chairman and managing director Dr Azad Moopen was deeply touched reading your story and immediately directed the team to get in touch with the patient offer the needful treatment support," said an Aster spokersperson.
"As a plan of care, we are planning to shift the patient to DMWIMS Medical college and Aster Specialty Hospital at Wayanad, Kerala, for stabilising his health condition prior shifting to a rehabilitation centre close to his home in Kerala.
Rehabilitation programme with multidisciplinary team approach including a neurologist, psychologist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and regular follow-up will help him improve his health better and avoid complications," said Dr Satish Kosuri , general practitioner, Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services.
