Radars installed on various roads across Sharjah have detected more than 10,000 violations during last five months, said a senior Sharjah Police official.
Major Jamal Bu Afra, Director of road monitoring section of the Sharjah Traffic Police, said that the offences detected by radars included road shoulder violations, lane violations and speeding.
He said the recently installed radars, which are among the most advanced, could shoot the pictures and video of the violators. He stressed the efforts taken by the Sharjah Traffic Police to curb accidents and minimise traffic congestion during peak hours.
The violators who are caught failing to abide by the lane restrictions will have to pay Dh200 fine, he said, urging the motorists to follow the rules to avoid accidents and traffic congestion.
