Dubai’s Global Village will be closed today, Wednesday, January 25, at 8 pm due to adverse weather conditions.
The decision was taken in consultation with the authorities.
“This decision means tonight’s planned performance of Mahmoud El Esseily is cancelled. While we share their disappointment, the comfort and well-being of our guests is our key priority,” Global Village said in a statement.
“We thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding,” said the statement.
In-park announcements informed people about the closure and guests were ushered outside.
Heavy rains lashed different parts of Dubai on Wednesday, and the National Centre of Meteorology has projected that the inclement weather will continue on Thursday as well.
In addition to Dubai, other emirates also recorded heavy rains.
Global Village was closed on January 7 as well due to adverse weather conditions.
The family entertainment destination is hugely popular among residents and visitors, and is visited by millions of people every year.
Many residents from Northern Emirates also travel to Global Village to explore different cultures and to shop from different country pavilions at the family-oriented venue.
On January 14, Ras Al Khaimah started a bus service to Dubai's popular festival park with a one-way ticket costing Dh30.
