Gulf Medical University (GMU)’s Global Day on 15 March saw students and staff from 86 countries come together to celebrate their cultural diversity.
The event, organized by the Student Affairs Department of GMU (owned by Thumbay Group), was held virtually this year and saw more than 1000 students, staff and their families and friends attend.
Chief Guest Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of GMU, said the Global Day helped reinforce the university’s ‘Unity in Diversity’ ethos, with diverse healthcare professions expressing their diverse cultures and learning from one another. Students exhibited food and costumes showcasing their culture and history.
Students and staff from the UAE, Nigeria, Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, France and Iraq were among the participants which saw Pakistan bag first place followed by Nigeria and India.
UAE secured first place in Arts category.
