A 19-year-old Iranian faced trial in the Court of First Instance on the charges of kidnapping a teenager and trying to sexually assault him.
According to prosecution records, the accused intercepted the victim while the latter was riding a bike with his friend. The accused posed as a cop and forcibly dragged him inside his car.
The defendant, an employee, pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnap, attempted sexual assault, physical assault and impersonation of a police officer, and overstaying with an expired visa.
The incident, as told by the victim, took place in Al Muhaisna, Al Qusais, on December 3 last year.
"He stopped us and took the bike's switch. He said he was a policeman but yelled at us when we asked for his card. He said he would not show it to kids," the teenager, a Bahraini student, told the prosecutor.
The two teens then walked home and the defendant drove his car slowly and hit the victim from behind to scare him.
"He stepped off, twisted my arm, and made me sit in the back seat of his car."
The teen screamed at him and tried to push him away but the accused managed to force him inside his car. "He drove for a few minutes and told me he would take me to the police station if I did not let him sexually assault me."
The accused then drove back and parked his car where he was earlier.
He tried to take off the boy's clothes by force but could not. He slapped him several times and threatened he would punch him if he did not do as he pleased.
At that time the teen's brother and friend came and the accused drove off.
