The Dubai Municipality has intensified field operations to fight mosquitoes that have spread due to the recent heavy rains in the emirate. Taking to Twitter, the civic body urged residents to report areas with water puddles to the municipality via the Dubai 24/7 app.
The Ras Al Khaimah Municipality had also announced recently that a team of specialists are out on the field to fight after-rain insects. The civic body had received 75 complaints about insects after the record spell of rains.
A special team is spraying "safe and environment-friendly" insecticides in and around water puddles reported in the Julphar area, Rashid neighbourhood, Al Mataf road, Al Rams area, and public parks.
"The public is urged to fix their doors and windows and cover all potential breeding sites for insects," a source said.
Savas Otton, director of Animal Care Centre, said the pest control service can be requested via toll-free number (800 8118), or in person at the customer happiness centre.
