A 21-year-old expat has been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance after he intentionally damaged a flat belonging to the Dubai Health Authority.
According to Dubai public prosecution, the defendant, an Asian salesman, deliberately caused damage to a public property.
The flat in Al Warsan was put at the disposal of Dubai Police to provide shelter to individuals. 
A legal expert said that on June 21, they received a complaint from the security employees at the site about damage in the flat.
"As I reached the flat, I found it was entirely damaged by someone who had been sheltered there.
"The defendant had been staying there as he had no housing. The building was handed over to Dubai Police. After inspection, the police arrived and apprehended the accused and took him to the police station."
During the public prosecution investigation, the defendant admitted to the charge of damaging the flat where he had been sheltered.

A ruling will be pronounced on September 28.
