Dubai authorities have started field visits to monitor prices of back to school essentials and promotional campaigns. The Dubai Economy's inspections, which started last Wednesday and will continue for a week, aim to ensure market preparedness for the school season and prevent price manipulation.
The campaign will cover major commercial centres and outlets selling school supplies and stationery.
Ahmad Al Zaabi, director of consumer protection, Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP), said: "Through the field visits, we aim to raise awareness among consumers and merchants to avoid any exploitation, commercial fraud or price tampering. So far, we have witnessed exceptional commitment from the sales outlets and stores that we visited and we noted that there is adequate stock and supply of school products and stationery."
The CCCP reminded traders that unreasonable price increases detected during the inspections and valid consumer complaints will attract penalties.
How to complain:
Consumers can submit their complaints and queries to the Dubai Economy through:

> Dubai Consumer app
