Brighton College UK and Dwight School New York, with a combined enrolment capacity of up to 4,000 students, will be setting up branches in Dubai, it was announced on Wednesday.

They will accommodate pupils from the academic year 2018/19 onwards.

Brighton College Dubai will offer a K-12 British curriculum, while Dwight School will be offering K-12 IB curriculum.

The construction of the project is scheduled to commence in late 2016. The schools will also offer extensive sports facilities, including tennis and squash courts, and a full soccer pitch with a 400-metre running track.

Richard Cairns, who has led Brighton College UK for the past 10 years, said: "Brighton College is the UK's top co-educational school, renowned for combining academic excellence with a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities, all underpinned by a deep commitment to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each boy or girl. We are looking forward to opening Brighton College Dubai and to giving parents in Dubai the opportunity to offer their sons or daughters a truly world-class education in one of the world's greatest cities."

"Dwight New York is delighted to extend Dwight's 150-year commitment to 'igniting the spark of genius in every child' to Dubai, where students will be part of one global Dwight family. Dwight has long pioneered opportunities for students to become innovative global leaders and our new school in Dubai will join those in New York, London, Seoul, and Shanghai that share this mission," said Stephen Spahn, Chancellor of The Dwight Schools.
