Ajman Police, on Monday, arrested an Asian man who stole Dh107,000 from a car.
Col Abdullah Saif, Director of CID at Ajman Police, said the police received a complaint on Sunday from a person who had withdrawn money from a bank in Ajman, and kept the cash in an envelope under the passenger seat. He then went to pick up his children from a school in Ajman. When he reached the school, he got off the car forgetting to lock it.
Robbery: Duo jailed for robbing phones worth Dh264,000
When he came back with his children, the envelope was found missing.
The police immediately formed a team which soon identified that the thief lived in Dubai. In coordination with the Dubai Police, the team arrested him from his residence. Dh16,000 was found in his possession. The police also found a receipt for Dh81,630 which he had transferred to his home country.
Shocking: Hospital staff in India steal babies, sell them off
During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he had stolen the cash from the car and the case has been referred to public prosecution.
Col Abdullah lauded the efforts of the police team who managed to identify the suspect and arrest within a short time.
Unbelievable: Cook bites off ex-fiancé's ear on Dubai street
He urged the public not keep valuables or cash in the car even if it is secured.
