An Egyptian housewife has accused her maid of putting her 10-month-old baby's life at risk after running away and leaving the baby alone at home.

According to prosecution records, the complaint was filed on November 1, 2011, at Al Barsha police station.
The 33-year-old housewife said she left the Indonesian maid, aged 30, at home at around 2:00pm with her baby and went to pick her other son from school.

"I came back about one hour later but I did not find the maid. The food was left to be cooked on the stove. I checked on my baby and found him sleeping. The maid was not there, and I found that she had also taken all her stuff," the complainant said.

The housewife added that a gold ring worth Dh2,570, a pair of sports shoes, and cash of 5,000 Egyptian pounds and 200 Euros were also missing.
"I don't care about what she stole as much as I am upset because she left my baby alone," the housewife told the police. "He could have hurt himself. He could have left his bed and crawled towards the kitchen and hurt himself," she told the prosecutor.
