The Dubai Police is in complete emergency and traffic readiness for the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday.
Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, chairman of the Federal Traffic Council and assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police, said that traffic patrols would be distributed across the emirate.
Extra public buses and vans will be provided to transport people in areas prone to crowds and traffic congestion, such as the Dubai Mall, around the Burj Khalifa and other popular spots and near shopping malls.
The authorities are identifying more sites that experience bottlenecks during the holidays and forming contingency plans, so that the public is not inconvenienced on these special days.
Traffic patrols will also intensify in preparation for Eid in Dubai, beginning two days before the holiday and continuing till the last day. These will be deployed around the clock to reduce traffic jams and regulate flow.
The police official also cautioned motorists, asking them to follow traffic rules to ensure their safety during the holidays.
He particularly appealed to parents to keep an eye on their children playing outside on the streets during the holiday, or while taking their vehicles in and out of their residence parking areas, to avoid runover accidents involving young children.
