A Dubai expat, who stabbed his supervisor three times, has been accused of premeditated attempted murder at the Court of First Instance.
Dubai public prosecution records did not cite the reason that might have prompted the 41-year-old Filipino defendant to stab his Egyptian supervisor in their office in Al Muraqqabat on July 6.
He remains in detention.
The victim, 32, said that he was on the job at a loan rescheduling and financial claims company. "The defendant came late and was not wearing his work outfit. He was smiling and did not talk to me."
The victim was later talking on the phone with a customer when he was suddenly stabbed from behind in the neck and left shoulder. "I fainted and the accused was stopped by other colleagues from stabbing me further as I was down."
During the prosecution investigation, he said that he had no idea why he was stabbed and that he had no previous disputes with the defendant.
A 23-year-old Egyptian woman employee told the investigator that she witnessed the defendant stabbing the victim three times with a knife at 8am.
According to the forensic report, the stab wounds could have been fatal had the victim not been rushed to hospital.
A medical report on the victim's injuries has been enclosed to the case file.
The trial will continue on October 20.
