Ajman - The Ajman Police have arrested two Filipinos for exposing a person to danger by performing a cosmetic surgery procedure on him without being licensed to do so. The duo - an investor and a cook - allegedly ran an illegal cosmetic surgery clinic.
Major Gaith Al Kabbi, Director of Al Nuaimiya police station, said they received a complaint from a 31-year-old Emirati, identified as K.M., that one of the suspects injected him with something to remove fat from his body.
The police said the suspects told the victim that they had a medicine that would help remove fat from his body in a short period of time. The victim agreed and allowed the suspect to inject him, but "felt severe and potentially life-threatening side effects".
Major Al Kabbi said the police formed a team to arrest the suspect red-handed. The team contacted the suspects and requested appointment for the service at their apartment in Al Nuaimiya. After obtaining a search permission from the public prosecution, the police sent the complainant to the apartment. On raiding the apartment, the police found one of the rooms equipped with medical devices and cosmetics, while the other room was equipped with a surgical bed. The police also discovered that the first suspect is an investor and the second worked as a cook's assistant.
The police confiscated all the equipment and sealed the apartment.
The two suspects were referred to the Ajman Public Prosecution.
Major Al Kabbi urged the public to deal with only licensed practitioners.
