An agreement was signed by Jamal Lootah, CEO, Imdaad, Dubai World's facilities management services provider, and Ahmed Rafi of City Services for the installation of water saving equipment and flow control devices to restrict water flow and reduce sewage under the sustainable development programme.
Taking note of a survey conducted by Dubai Municipality identifying the staff accommodation premises among the highest water-consuming units out of a total of 400,000 consumers in Dubai, EHS worked in close collaboration with the Employee Welfare Association of Dubai World and Dubai Municipality since January 2007 to identify effective ways of cutting down on water consumption and waste.
Ahmed Hussain, CEO of EHS, said, "Conservation of the environment and precious resources such as water is not only a social and moral responsibility for every citizen, but it is also one of the primary mandates of EHS, which has been set up by Dubai World especially for regulatory purposes."
The EHS CEO added that the project was the first of a number of steps that Dubai World had initiated for the conservation of water and electricity which were also aimed at reducing overall cost.
