A 19-year-old Arab succumbed to injuries he received in a horrific traffic accident in Ras Al Khaimah early on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as K.W.A., lost control over the car he was driving at a high speed, veered of the road, and rammed into a lamp post at 3am, according to a top police officer.
Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director-general of the central operations room, said another Arab youth was injured the crash.
A police team and paramedics rushed to the spot, but K.W.A. had died by then. His friend was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he recuperating in a critical condition.
According to the initial enactment of the crash, the high speed driving  caused the crash. The car was completely destroyed in the accident.
Brig Humaidi said the accident file has been referred to the traffic prosecution.
