Those who have expired paid parking permits will not be charged until the end of March, announced the municipalities of Sharjah and Ajman.
Thabi Al Taraifi, director-general of the Sharjah Municipality, said alternate arrangements for renewal are being put into place as customer service centres have been shut to curb the spread of coronavirus.
"The services will be provided electronically to avoid gatherings. We urge subscribers not to come and gather at the municipality customer service centres and not worry about parking permit renewal."
Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, assistant director-general of the customer service sector, said that requests to object to violations will be transferred to the call centre on 993.
Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi, director-general of the Ajman Municipality, said the authority will not charge those with paid parking permits which expired in March. "All of them can park for free until the end of the month."
