The Ajman Police have arrested four Asians wanted by the Interpol, it was revealed on Monday. Major-General Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said the suspects had Interpol arrest warrants against them for murder in their home countries.
They were handed over to the relevant authorities in their countries by the Ministry of Interior (MoI). The arrests came as part of the police's 'Ajman Dar Al Aman' (Ajman is Safe) initiative.
Security surveillance operations have been intensified to track down criminals, to achieve the MoI's 2021 national agenda which aims to make the UAE the safest country in the world. "The Ajman Police have been cooperating with Interpol since the UAE became one of its important supporting members," he added. The Aman Patrols also arrested 450 suspects wanted by the police in other emirates for murder and thefts.
Ten more patrols will be operational on September 1, equipped with advanced technology that enhances communication and security surveillance to track down criminals. "Police officers who have been appointed to be part of the Aman patrols are being trained to start working from September," Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said.
The official noted that police response times have been reduced to 8 minutes in the current year, down from 8.5 minutes last year.
