Dubai - Major-General Mohammeed Saif Al Zafin, head of Federal Traffic Council has called for imposing strict penalties on drivers who do not abide by lane discipline and suddenly overtakes on lanes.
He said such aggressive driving has caused the death of 27 people during the nine months of the current year. He said drivers are often shocked when another driver overtakes suddenly. According to the law, the penalty for over-taking is just Dh200, while not abiding by lane discipline costs Dh400. Making a sudden turn has topped the list of violation in the past two years.Al Zafin said the council has recommended imposing strict penalty for such violations. amira@khaleejtimes.com
