A robotic, automated system is now being used to process Emiratis' housing requests in Abu Dhabi, enabling a quicker turnover of homes to beneficiaries, authorities have said.
The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (Adha) said it has started implementing a robotic process automation (RPA) system, a form of artificial intelligence technology, to speed up the housing request procedures for citizens.
The RPA system automatically verifies whether a housing applicant meets all eligibility conditions and requirements, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said.
"The system increases (Adha's) application processing capacity by 88 percent each month by handling 4,500 requests, while an employee can handle 2,400 requests in a month during working hours."
Besides cutting service delivery time, this will also increase accuracy and reduce human error, thus improving customer satisfaction, officials said.
Sultan Muhammad Al Khumairi, acting executive director of support services sector at Adha, said: "The RPA system, which limits human intervention and simulates human tasks, is an outcome of the authority's tireless and continuous efforts to keep pace with the latest technological developments in the AI field."
"The application of this system reflects the authority's interest in leveraging modern technologies and using them in its important development initiatives in order to improve performance and promote the authority's role in achieving objectives."
With the AI tech in place, employees are now able to redirect their efforts towards more important tasks and developing more innovative ideas.
Alanood Al Mazrouei, strategic planning and organisational excellence director, chairman of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Committee at Adha, said: "The implementation of future strategies and digital transformation contributes to strengthening our capacities, employing modern and innovative technologies, and consolidating concepts to develop housing services for the public.
"The authority will also be integrating modern governance into the technologies of open, smart, and big data between now and 2030, in line with the vision and directives of the wise leadership to use AI technologies."
In May this year, Adha said its customers are now able to "self-complete" their housing applications online or via its smart app. The service allows customers to digitally access their forms, at the request of Adha employees, via its smartphone app or website.
