The Abu Dhabi Police have launched the 'Mawdah and Rahmah' initiative to provide psychological and social counselling services to the community for stable families.
The initiative, which is part of the 'Year of Giving', is intended to raise awareness about the importance of internal communication among family members to enhance stability in families and a peaceful community.
As part of its strategic plan, the department of social support centres at the Abu Dhabi Police has trained 20 people from various academic disciplines such as the UAE University and the Higher Colleges of Technology. These trainees will provide counselling services to the people with the aim of developing their psychological and communication skills.
Brigadier Ali Al Badi, director of social support centres, said: "The initiative provides free psychological and social counselling services by trained psychologists and social workers."
"The programme has been established to raise awareness among members of the community about the importance of internal communication in homes and between family and community members to strengthen love, care and peace in the society."
The trainees have been provided with a number of community initiatives related to happiness and family cohesion, which are in conjunction with the Year of Giving 2017.
The programme also provides free meals to workers and distribution of awareness leaflets about the definition of the objectives and services provided by police's social support centres.
