The 50 per cent discount on traffic fines in Abu Dhabi has been extended for another three months and will now end on June 22, police announced on Saturday.
The Abu Dhabi Police said the discount applies to all traffic violations registered before December 22, 2019, except those categorised as 'dangerous', provided the fines are paid off within three months.
All black points and vehicle impoundments due before the same date will also be cancelled.
The scheme, which was initially launched in December last year, was to end on March 22 this year. Police had also offered a 35 per cent discount to those who cleared their fines within 60 days and a 25 per cent discount to those who settled them after 60 days.
Police have emphasised their continued commitment in motivating community members to adhere to laws and regulations, alleviate their burdens, and enable them clear their legal status by settling traffic fines at a discount.
