The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah will have three new public parks soon at the Uraibi, Red Island and Shawkah areas.
Power supply has already been provided to two of the parks built by the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, according to Eng Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, director-general of the RAK department of public works and services.
All the three parks are equipped with private areas for families, he added. "These are apart from playing areas, walkways and other facilities in addition to corridors, internal parks, and parking lots." "The Shawkah Park will be opened for the public soon," said Al Hammadi. "It is the only 'lung' of the area where families and children can relax," said Ahmed Nassar, a resident of Shawkah area. "Hopefully the three parks will be opened soon; otherwise, families will have to drive for a long distance to relax at the public parks in Ras Al Khaimah city or nearby towns."
Recently, the department of public works and services in the emirate completed 180 parking spaces for visitors of the Saqr public park at Al Daqdaqa area.
Millions of dirhams have been spent across the UAE to help maintain and bost greenery as well as educate residents on the importance of conservation, he said.
