Nineteen homes in Al Ain have been sprayed using modern pest control methods to protect families from insects and rodents.
The community service department in the northern sector of Al Ain Municipality said the pest control initiative is part of a campaign to protect homes from harmful pests and insects under the slogan 'Your safety is our goal'.
The campaign also aims at providing a safe environment for residents and promoting public health and welfare. Officials said the campaign - which is being carried out in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Centre of Waste Management - has covered 19 homes in the Nahal and Sweihan areas.
The campaign lasted for five days, with the participation of a number of engineers, specialists, technicians and workers, as well as specialised teams from the municipality.
Obaid Al Ketbi, director of the community service department, said that during the campaign, an insect survey was first carried out in the residential neighbourhoods.
"In addition to spraying of insects using the best pest control methods, officials distributed brochures to residents on how to carry out the insect survey, how to treat them and the best ways of controlling pests and rodents residents," said Al Ketbi.
He noted that the campaign aims primarily at promoting public health and that it was implemented basing on the needs and requirements of residents in the region.
Nayel Al Shamsi, manager of the centre of waste management, Al Ain branch, said the campaign came as part of a recycling strategy aimed at maintaining a clean, safe and sustainable environment for Abu Dhabi.
