The project, which will cost Dh11.3 million, will be completed in five months.

The project is being executed under the instruction of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Suliman Al Hajri, Director of Road Projects, said the road section from Intersection No. 5 located on the Sharjah-Al Dhaid Road to the roundabout located after Musallah Al Badee between Al Grayen and Al Nouf areas is being widened as part of the project.

The work includes two more lanes in each direction on the 4km stretch, bus bays on both sides, construction of intersections and street lighting.

Al Hajri said the 4km street now has only one lane each in either direction, which was built a long time ago when there were not many residents in the area. The number of residents has now increased exponentially. The stretch has become vital connecting Al Dhaid Road with Maleeha Road and has the residential areas of Noof and Al Grayen on one side and those of Al Basateen on the other.
