The move is being implemented in conjunction with the Emirates Authority for Standardisation to limit speed and increase passenger safety on roads.
Autograde, the authorised manufacturer of speed limiting devices in the UAE, has officially signed a contract with Enoc Tasjeel to mutually promote awareness for its customers across the UAE.
Starting from April, the speed limiters have been made available at Enoc Tasjeel petrol stations located at Jafza and Warsan; with service and warranties as per manufacturer norms. Moreover, all Enoc Tasjeel vehicle centres will offer installation of the speed limiters in the private buses by professional technicians.
Currently, 70 per cent of the total yearly vehicle population has been successfully installed with Autograde speed limiters. The primary function of these devices is to control the fuel feed to the engine in order to limit the vehicle speed to a preset value. Whenever the set speed limit is crossed, a speed sensor integrated in the vehicle, decreases the fuel flow to the engine and eventually reduces the speed of the vehicle.
The base cost of the equipment is Dh1,200 and a dedicated 24-hour hotline on the toll free number 80024365 can assist public inquiries.
