The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Sharjah has started building a number of internal roads at the Hamriya East and West areas. Up to 85 per cent of the Dh30-million project has been completed.
Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of RTA Sharjah, said: "A number of one-way internal roads will be built in the Hamriya East against Dh16.1 million. The two-lane roads are 5.4km long with gravel head shoulders on both sides of the roads." Interlock entrances for cars are also to be built opposite the houses, he added.
Similar one-way internal roads will be built in the Hamriya West at a cost of Dh13.8 million, he said. "The two-lane roads are 6.3km long with gravel head shoulders on both sides of the roads.
"The new roads will give a boost to the internal road network of the emirate, which is being built as per the highest international standards," Al Suwaihi added.
