The surveys will help the RTA “better understand” mobility patterns of individuals and families in Dubai. The move is part of a scheme through which the RTA is seeking to boost its roads network and develop an integrated mass transit system in the emirate.
Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, CEO of the RTA Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector, said: “The RTA is currently updating its strategic ... roadway and transport plans in a bid to develop comprehensive, integrated and effective solutions that serve the future requirements of the economic and urban development in Dubai. (This will also) ... fulfil the RTA’s vision of providing safe and smooth transport for all.
“The RTA has tasked a specialised international consultancy firm to undertake telephone and field surveys over three months ... to identify their mobility patterns along with the factors affecting their choice of mode of transportation. Inputs (will be used) in improving, expanding and upgrading roads and public transport networks.”
