Fujairah — The Dibba Fujairah Municipality will serve warning notices to owners of vehicles abandoned in Dibba and Al Badiya industrial areas. The municipality said the abandoned cars would be confiscated if owners fail to respond to the notice.
Residents of the two areas complained about the large number of cars abandoned by their owners on main and internal roads. They described the practice as an “uncivilised” one that distorts the beauty of the area’s streets and squares.
Workers of car garages in the area told Khaleej Times that these cars were abandoned long ago.
Khalid Rashid Al Dhanhani, Head of the Trading Licence Section, Dibba Fujairah Municipality, said the competent bodies at the municipality launched an extensive campaign against the practice. He said the Director-General of the Dibba Fujairah Municipality, Hassan Salem Al Yamahi, directed them to locate cars abandoned by their owners so as to take action against owners.
