The city of Dubai is well connected, thanks to a very efficient public transport system. According to the World Economic Forum, the UAE tops the list when it comes to efficiency in transport systems. This is a measure of how effective the system is. The Metro, for example, connects the emirate's biggest malls as well as Dubai International Airport's Terminal 1 and 3. There are also the buses which connect the rest of the city. Being effective as it is, here are a few reasons why Dubai expats just love the public transport that they have. The public transport in Dubai is, by the way, unparalleled in the world.

It's cheap

An average Metro ride costs Dh3-Dh5, a bus ride costs roughly the same and an abra ride costs only Dh1. With such attractive options to get you from point A to point B without breaking the bank, the public transport system is something that was built for everyone to use, no matter their budget constraints.

You avoid traffic

It goes without saying that most public transport routes are removed from the more congested roads. In the areas that it does, it goes on its appointed route saving you the time of walking and waiting at traffic signals. And when was the last time you worried about parking?

You can go ANYWHERE

Beach bumming in Ajman? Sure! Meeting with friends in Sharjah? Yes, you can. Because public transport has routes which ply the other emirates if you need a break from Dubai. Two of the most important routes that the RTA has are the bus lines that go to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The latter is where most expats choose to live. Both are long rides in their own right, but at least you're comfortable on it!

It's smart

Want to go someplace, but don't know which bus to take? The RTA has a nifty app called "Wojhati" which can sort out all your worries about getting to your destination. In fact, it's so effective that it even

It's continuously growing

With news of Hyperloop technology making waves in the UAE, it's going to be sooner rather than later.  You could get from one emirate to another in less than 15 minutes. While the technology hasn't arrived,
you can always enjoy the new developments in the UAE such as the Dubai Tram and the marine transport facilities that ply across the Dubai Canal.
