Tsonga withdraws from Valencia tournament
VALENCIA, Spain - France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the world number 13, confirmed on Monday he has withdrawn from the Valencia ATP tournament because of a recurring knee injury.
The 25-year-old aggravated the injury which sidelined him for three months following Wimbledon during the semi-final of the Montpellier tournament on Saturday when he lost to compatriot and eventual winner Gael Monfils.
The injury could compromise the rest of his end of season which includes two important dates - the Masters in Paris-Bercy from November 8-14 and the Davis Cup final in Serbia from December 3-5.
The 2008 Australian Open finalist has been plagued by injuries during his career.
