While there has been widespread speculation over the death of the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the latest news that has been doing the rounds in the Indian media, suggest that Rajput had stopped his medications for depression a few days before his death.
According to india.com, one of Rajput's closest friends, Mahesh Shetty, revealed that the late actor had stopped taking his anti-depressants for the past few days. Shetty and Rajput had worked together in the popular Balaji Telefilms soap opera Pavitra Rishta.
Some reports also suggested that Shetty had a talk with Rajput when the actor's domestic help informed him that he had stopped taking his medications. When asked, Rajput told Shetty that he did not need the medications anymore and there was nothing to worry about.
Rajput had called one of his sisters at 9.30 am on Sunday, after which he had called Shetty, but he couldn't take his call at that time. Rajput was found dead in his Bandra residence on June 14 morning, just a few days after the shocking death of his ex manager, Disha Salian, who reportedly fell off the 14th floor of a high-rise building in Mumbai.
A day after Rajput was found dead, the Mumbai Police, who are investigating the case, said the late actor had shown symptoms of depression and was consulting a psychiatrist. Investigators said they had learnt this after recording the statement of six people in connection with the case, according to a report in The Indian Express.
"We have so far recorded the statement of his sister, two managers, a cook, actor Mahesh Shetty and a keymaker who was called to the spot to open his bedroom's door," said Abhishek Trimukhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XI).
Meanwhile, Shetty is apparently still coming to terms with the shocking news of his friend's death. In an official post on Instagram, Shetty's team  made a sincere request to the media to not call or text the actor to inquire about Rajput as he was in shock over the news of his friend's demise.

The post read, "As we all are deeply pained and shocked to hear about Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely demise. So is Mahesh Shetty. He has lost a brother, a very dear friend and is still coming to terms with the shock and reality and is completely heartbroken. We, his team, request the media and all of you, on his behalf, to please give him some privacy and let him grieve for his loss." (sic)
Rajput's ashes were taken to Patna on Thursday to be immersed in the Ganga river.
On Thursday actress Rhea Chakraborty was also spotted at Bandra police station to record her statement in regards to Sushant's death.
Rhea, widely rumoured to have been the late actor's girlfriend, arrived at the police station dressed in white and wearing a mask.
Sushant was found hanging at his Bandra residence on Sunday morning. It is reported that the actor was going through clinical depression over the past six months or so. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh announced in a video clip on his Twitter account that the police would investigate the cause of Sushant's depression.
So far, Mumbai Police have recorded the statement of Rajput's cook, caretaker and managers, along with close friend and filmmaker Mukesh Chhabra, who was directing the actor in his upcoming film, Dil Bechara.
