As the waters calmed on Australia's Gold Coast, organisers of the XCAT Powerboat World Series had plenty to celebrate with the fourth round of the Series witnessing unprecedented levels of growth in all areas.
Post-event reports have revealed that not only did the XCAT Gold Coast TV coverage of the event reached an unparalleled 727 million households - up more than 81 per cent on the previous event, but that the GP attracted record crowds of over 22,500 spectators.
The Gold Coast GP saw the live TV feed being picked up by eight broadcasters including ESPN, Swedish Channel and TV4, reaching 103 million households, while the 26-minute highlights show will now be accessible to 624 million households. Those numbers are growing higher all the time as more broadcasters come on board.
A massive breakthrough was Gillette World Sport covering the Gold Coast GP during the first week of September, broadcasting to an additional 1.5 billion households, thus providing a media value of Euro 700,000.
Coverage of the Gold Coast GP in traditional media outlets also witnessed massive growth - not only in Australia but across the globe - with exposure in markets as diverse as the USA, Brazil, UK, Italy, Sweden, Japan and Mexico.
Likewise, social media numbers went through the roof, the XCAT YouTube channel being just one example of this. YouTube views increased by 213 per cent, minutes watched by 188 per cent, likes by 300 per cent, shares by 414 per cent and subscribers by 136 per cent.
