Khabib Nurmagomedov, the UFC's undefeated lightweight champion, made a surprise appearance in Abu Dhabi on Friday. The crowd favourite was not in action inside the octagon, but he was in the corner of his cousin Usman Nurmagomedov, who clashed against Jerry Kvarnstrom in the catchweight bout of the UAE Warriors 12 mixed martial arts event at Mubadala Arena.
Usman, just like Khabib, remained undefeated with a first-round submission win over Kvarnstrom.

This is the first overseas trip for Khabib since the demise of his father and mentor Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov earlier this month. There were speculations that Khabib might hang up his boots.
However, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Khabib would be back in the octagon against Justin Gaethje on October 24.
And Abu Dhabi remains the frontrunner to host the title unification bout.
Khabib's appearance in Abu Dhabi on the day of Eid Al Adha shows his liking for the Capital, which has become the 'new fight capital' of the world.
Khabib, from the Dagestan region of Russia, hasn't fought since his bout against Dustin Poirier at the UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi last September.
