Using the Fina World Cup Series Abu Dhabi events as a platform for inspiration; ADSC and Daman are hosting an Open Water Mass Participation Swim for which swimmers of all ages and abilities can get involved.
Racing one mile around the course on the Abu Dhabi Breakwater, Khaled Seifalla came in first at the Fina Open Water Mass Participation Swim with a time of 20m 7s.
Other participants included father and son duo, Nick and Rio Watson under the banner Team Angel Wolf. After his son Rio, 12, was diagnosed with a rare disease, Nick was driven to show that he can take part in all kinds of sporting events, entering as a pair into Marathons, Triathlons and other athletic events like Iron Man.
Commenting on his involvement in the Mass Participation Swim, Nick Watson said: "Rio and I loved getting involved in the Fina Open Water Mass Participation Swim, part of the Fina World Cup Series event in Abu Dhabi.
Competing with Rio allows us to spread awareness about the power of integration in sports and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. By taking part in these types of mass participation events we hope to motivate local society, especially young children."
