Virat Kohli struck his fourth double hundred as India reached 620-6 in 153 overs at tea on day two of the one-off cricket test against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
The Indian skipper was dismissed for 204, facing 246 deliveries and hitting 24 fours. At the break, Wriddhiman Saha was unbeaten on 83, while Ravindra Jadeja was 16.
Kohli reached his double hundred after lunch off 239 balls, becoming the first batsman in test history to notch double hundreds in four consecutive test series.
He had scored 200 against West Indies in Antigua, 211 against New Zealand in Indore, and 235 against England in Mumbai, all in 2016. He went past Sir Donald Bradman (Australia) and Rahul Dravid (India) who scored double hundreds in three successive series.
Having added 222 for the fourth wicket with Ajinkya Rahane (82), Kohli put on 39 runs with Saha for the fifth wicket before finally being dismissed in the 126th over, as left-arm spinner Taijul Islam (3-121) trapped him lbw.
India's 500 came up in the 128th over and shortly afterwards they registered the highest innings score at this venue, beating their own 503 all out against Australia in 2013.
Saha put on 74 runs with Ravichandran Ashwin (34) for the sixth wicket. They scored at a brisk pace as Saha brought up his fifth test half-century off 86 balls.
Ashwin was caught at slip off Mehedi Hasan (2-154), but it didn't stop India's march past 600 in the 147th over.
India became the first team in cricket history to record 600-plus totals in three successive test innings. Previously, they had scored 631 all out and 759-7d against England in Mumbai and Chennai, both in 2016.
Jadeja and Saha then put on 51 runs for the seventh wicket before the break, as Bangladesh continued their leather hunt.
Rahane completed his 10th test half-century off 73 balls. Dropped by Sabbir Rahman at deep backward point on 62, he fell 20 runs later when caught at short cover in tremendous fashion by Mehedi Hasan off Taijul Islam
Kohli has also accumulated the most test runs for an Indian batsman in a season, beating Virender Sehwag's record of 1105 runs in 2004-05.
