Former Al Ain and current Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic has thanked the UAE for their unwavering support during the Covid-19 pandemic and expressed gratitude from his countrymen and women.
Croatia, like many countries around the world, is battling with the coronavirus with 382 cases being confirmed, as of Tuesday evening.
What has made matters worse is an earthquake, of 5.3 magnitude, that rocked Zagreb, the Croatian capital, and said to be the biggest in 140 years.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) sent 11.5 tonnes of medical equipment, which also includes masks, to the nation.
And Dalic took to social media to thank the UAE, which was his home away from home from 2014 to 2017.
"UAE government has sent 11,5 tonnes of medical equipment to Croatia. I give you thanks in the name of Croatian people," Dalic said on his official twitter handle.
The 53-year-old, who guided record Arabian Gulf League champions Al Ain to the President's Cup in 2013-14, the League in 2014-1 and the Super Cup in 2015, also did his part to help.
Dalic, who lead Al Ain to a runner-up finish in the AFC Champions League in 2016 before guiding Croatia to the World Cup final in Russia in 2018, donated 40,000 Croatian Kuna (approximately Dh 20,824) to a hospital in Livno, the place where he was born.
Dalic made a remarkable impact with Croatia at the World Cup, their fairytale coming to an end after being beaten 4-2 by France.
