Al Jazira have agreed to a fee with German club Schalke for Peruvian international Jefferson Farfan, ESPN FC reported on Friday.
The 30-year-old Farfan has a contract until June 2016 with Schalke and ESPN FC quoted sources as saying that both the clubs had agreed on a fee. The report said that Farfan is expected to sign a three-year deal, subject to a medical.
It was reported earlier that the three-year deal is worth ?10 million but Al Jazira were unavailable for comment.
The Pride of Abu Dhabi are looking to off-load Burkina Faso international Jonathan Pitroipa, who has been reportedly linked to Arabian Gulf Cup and President's Cup champions Al Nasr. Once the deal is done, Farfan will take Pitroipa's place.
Schalke are said to be interested in Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri, who is currently with Inter Milan. Farfan could make way for Shaqiri.
Al Jazira, who ended as runners-up in the Arabian Gulf League last season, have so far signed Brazilian playmaker Thiago Neves from Saudi giants Al Hilal and South Korean midfielder Park Jong-woo from Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F.
